Switzerland-Umbrail

(Saturday continued) Today was a pretty long day in the saddle. 4:30 hours and only 50 miles. You can guess by this that most of this is uphill. I forgot to mention that besides doing the opposite side of the Stelvio we all so dropped down into Switzerland and did the Umbrail pass. No passport required today because of this special day of cycling. This is a 14 mile climb with a 1 1/2 mile dirt road. Going down was a little crazy with the dirt and the other cyclist. Many of the photos in the today are from this pass. I rode back up with a guy from Vermont named Oliver. He is the one standing over his bike on the dirt road. Another great day cycling in Italy. Hope you are all well. Thanks for all the comments! Keep the Faith…GB

Tourists in Verona

Slept until 5 am this morning. We are 9 hours ahead so it is Thursday in Italy. Met a couple of the other people on the trip at breakfast. Neil from Boulder, Matt from SF and I finally met Ruth from Newport Beach. Ruth lives about 2 blocks from use and we never met. Stacey has met her walking the dog. We laughed that we had to go to Italy to meet. Ruth needed to get a sim card for her phone so I tagged alone to see the main square of Verona. We played tourists for about an hour before Vodaphone opened at 10 am. See the photo page.

We started out in the ‘Piazza Bra’ right next to the Roman Theater or what is called the Arena Theater. This is a beautiful square with many outdoor restaurants and shops. Went and visited Juliets home. Walked down the ‘Piazza delle Erbe’ which is street closed to cars and has some of Italy’s most famous designer labels. A lot to see in Verona. A beautiful city and well taken care of by the people of Verona. I will be back.

I made it. Sleeping in Italy

Easy flight over here to Italy. I stopped in Frankfurt and then on to Verona. I am running on no sleep about now. Of course the adventure has begun. My bike has not arrived yet. They say it is coming on the next flight. They will deliver to my hotel. We will see. Prayers needed here. Thanks

Great to hear from all of you. Thanks for the encouragement and other stuff (Bob Bates.) Speaking of other stuff-someone (no names) wrote about a different use of the power output meter. The question was, “can the power output measure anything else besides the heart.” “I want to see if my husband is putting out.” Oh boy, oh boy. At least she read the blog entry about
